Complete And Concise Saline Nasal Spray Information

Saline Nasal Spray This Site Is Full Of Pure Information No Hype No Sales

Saline nasal spray is increasingly more common as people seek non chemical solutions. The key is to make certain your spray is actually all natural and without medical ingredients. There are several products that claim to be saline but when you read the fine print you will realize they have other “active ingredients”. As we discussed earlier this type of spray is primary used to more or less wash out the nasal passageway removing and dust, pollen, or other material that could be causing the condition or allergy.

Some other types of natural solutions are sprays that contain tea tree oil or other natural remedies. But of all the natural remedies the saline spray is by far the most popular.

Many people are worried about nasal spray side effects and addiction. While the addiction is oftentimes an attachment to the relief the spray gives provides. This is more an addiction to the “relief” than the actual spray. But the cause/effect is anchored to, in theory, the cause of the addiction. But that is another topic.

There may be a little discussed side effect in that if you use the saline nasal spray to irrigate your nasal passageways too often your body may adapt and then stop producing irrigation itself. In other words, the body will determine that irrigating your nose is no longer necessary and hence turn off this function. At this point you would be reliant on the spray forever. This is not a common affect. Yet it needs to be pointed out that using the spray too often can cause an adverse affect.

Some also contain “preservatives”. These can cause a slight burning or irritation. If you experience a burning, no matter how slight, it would be best to discontinue use and ask your Doctor. Your nose is a critical and delicate organ. You need to take appropriate actions and talk to your doctor if it is giving you any feedback like burning or itching.

Many people decide that they want to make their own saline nasal spray. Now personally I do not recommend this because there are simply too many things that you can accidentally do wrong. But if you insist on at least knowing what some people do to make the spray themselves they use one quarter teaspoon of pickling salt and add it to one quarter teaspoon of baking soda and add that to eight ounces of distilled water. You should bring the distilled water to a boil for at least 10 minutes and then refrigerate it until it is cool then add the other ingredients. As for delivering it to your nasal passageways many people use a syringe with a spray bulb. Almost like a spray turkey baster. Ask your doctor. They will point you in the correct direction for the proper delivery of the homemade solution. I want to reiterate once again that I do not recommend anyone make their own.

If you want to purchase an over the counter product I would say that Simply Saline Nasal Spray appears to be a good option. It is made with purified water and has no preservatives. They have several different types within their line of preservative free offerings. Even ones with a touch of menthol for difficult congestion. Once again, I am not recommending a product. Simply, pointing one out.

Another over the counter saline nasal spray is ocean premium. They have been around for over 30 years so, even though they do have some simple added preservatives. It must be a solution effective enough to keep them in business. Sometimes preservatives can be a good thing. I do not want to steer you away from them. It really is something you need to discuss with your doctor. According to Ocean their preservatives are specially designed to prevent irritation. So it may be that Ocean os a good product for you. The best thing to do is to try different options and see which you like best. As with any product. Or do what I think is best and that is to discuss this with your doctor and follow his/her advice.

Either way saline nasal spray has been a proven solution for decades and is a great option for those looking for a non-medicated solution to their congestion. I know it has been said repeatedly but really, consult your Doctor. They read the most current studies and journals and know more than you can ever attempt to gather from a website. The purpose of websites like this one is to give you a foundation of knowledge and to give you some baseline information to assist you in further research. But websites are not updated often enough to be the most current information. For that you need your Doctor.
